Becks' Green Box Project

The launch took place at Protein's space in East London (where else????) on Monday. It started at 6pm and the place was rammed with East London's finest by the time we got there at 7pm.

The whole event was to launch a project that Protein have been working on for a very very long time with Becks and Mother. Green Box is an art project which sees a selection of artists and creatives come up with artworks for their own Green Box.  The actual boxes themselves were designed by Jason Bruges and fuse augmented reality with art. The way this works is that when you hold up your phone with the free custom built AR Green Box app enabled, the Green Box will reveal the exclusive artwork.
Artists involved so far include LuckyMe, Stephen Burks, Kate MccGwire, Kenneth Cappello, Kathy Grayson, Austra, Hannah Barry, Hussein Chalayan, UVA, Warpaint and Shaniqwa Jarvis (wooohoooo). The project is a massive bringing together of like-minds to raise awareness for the Beck’s art fund, which will see hundreds of artists receive funding from the well-loved beer brand to make their own Green Boxes.

From now on London, Milan, New York, Los Angeles, Miami and Rome will start to see mysterious 2m³ acrylic sculptures pop up on the streets / on roof tops / open spaces.

Hotdogs and free beer were the ordre du jour, but to be honest fuck the hotdogs I want that Green Box in my room.
